The weekend starts with your arrival on the Friday from 3.30pm, where you check in to your camping and glamping accommodation. Get yourself settled and catch up around the campfire with your loved ones toast a few s ’more, enjoy a few chuckles, whilst you look forward to your Wild gin adventure!
The Wild Gin adventure begins…
The day starts with 2-course hot breakfast in the campsite’s Dutch barn with your gang and after breakfast your full-day wild gin adventure begins. Our local expert will take you out for a foraging session where you explore Top of the Woods 27-acre site looking for botanical ingredients to create your own seasonal bathtub gin, one of the oldest traditions of gin making.
Expect an enjoyable session where you will learn about the flora and fauna on site, which are edible and those that are not and some of the scientific applications and folk stories associated with various native plants.
Did you know that red clover can be used to help with some menopause symptoms, which you can spot in our wildflower meadows in the summer or that the bark of willow is natures aspirin, which you can find down in the willow garden.
Depending on the time of year we might gather rosehips, or elderflowers or wild mint all excellent botanicals to flavour your seasonal bathtub gin. After creating your 500ml Bathtub gin is time to create your second bottle of gin, which you can take home - Your signature gin.
Create and blending your own signature gin!
Here you will explore, taste and learn about the botanicals from across the world that are used in making gin.
You will learn about flavour profiles and how to layer them so you can design your own signature gin based on the flavours you love. You will also learn about Britain’s historical obsession with all things gin. Be it the gin craze of the 1700-1800s or the Victorian gin palaces or the high energy of the jazz age and the birth of the cocktails! all whlist you create your perfect flavoured gin for you!
Create Two Bottles of Gin to Take Home!
Bathtub gin & your signature blended gin.
After a homemade lunch, you will be ready then to start the Wild Welsh Gin tasting sessions, where you will taste 3 Welsh craft gins made in the Pembrokeshire and Cardigan Bay area and you will score and talk about the flavour tones, deciding which one is your favourite!
Top of the Woods glamping campsite in Pembrokeshire Wales has created the Wild Gin experience in partnership with In The Welsh Wind gin & whisky distillery, which is located a short distance up the coast road from the campsite. They create many premium small batch craft gins, which will be sampled as part of the Welsh gin tasting part of the day.
The session will finish about 4.30 where you can have a little time to rest or have a relaxing walk in the 320 acres of woods next to the campsite. Maybe you will find the waterfall to have an invigorating woodland dip before your 2-course dinner at Top of the Woods in the Dutch Barn!
Either way the weekend is designed for you to relax, recharge, and have fun with your friends and/or partner for a perfect weekend together away in nature, especially if it’s a celebration holiday too!
Exploring Pembrokeshire and Cardigan Bay
After your full-on gin-tastic adventures on the Saturday, Sunday you can enjoy the stunning area that is on offer by Top of the Woods glamping campsite in Pembrokeshire Wales.
There is no shortage of activities to do in the area! Exploring the 50+ wild beaches would be a great way to spend some time, as well as taking a walk along the 186 miles of Pembrokeshire coastline or explore inland in the Pembrokeshire National Park – the legendary Preseli’s. There are many stunning coastal and inland treks to choose from - be sure to check in with reception for recommendations.
A wildlife boat trip could offer a chance to see some of the local marine life up close along the stunning coastline. Seeing the biggest resident European pod of dolphins in Cardigan Bay would also be an unforgettable experience.
If you're interested in history and culture, checking out the smallest city in the UK, St David's, or Cardigan Town one of the top 3 places to visit in the UK (timeout) could be a great choice. If you're looking for some shopping and dining options, Narberth has plenty of antiques and food shops to explore.
