Green Christmas Gift Guide: Bye-bye Black Friday

Updated: Mar 6, 2023

This year, we wanted to give a shout out to our wonderful Top of the Woods guests and community who passionately run their own independent, sustainable businesses.

With the non-stop "buy more stuff" promos for Black Friday, we wanted to create an alternative Christmas Gift Guide ready to celebrate Small Business Saturday

From eco soaps to seasonal garlands, from festive kids wear to bags that will get better with age, you’re sure to find a gift idea that will bring a smile to your family and friends' this festive season and support a small family business.

BonBonBon

Perfect for cool kids!

Instagram: @bonbonbon_uk

BonBonBon creates sweet kids wear highlighting positive mental health. For Christmas, they have a range of Ho Ho Ho baby grows, t-shirts for kids and more recently adults - all sewn by owner Natalie in her studio (spare room).

Plus they also donate 10% of profits from their kids vibe t-shirts tom Place 2 Be, a charity supporting mental health in schools.

We love Natalie’s sustainable ethos: “Money is so precious to families, so I like to encourage 'buy less, buy better'."

Tilly Two Stitch

For the disco divas in your life!

Instagram: @tillytwostitch

Lucy who runs Tilly Two Stitch has stayed at Top of the Woods many times with family and friends and says it is one of her "happy places."

Her clothes collection is both for adults and kids and she has worked with local designers to create exclusive Tilly Two Stitch designs for her fabrics. I mean what's not to love about disco ball leggings, rockstar harem pants, and dancing pineapple beanies.

All the clothes are handmade by Lucy, made to order and are designed to bring joy through what you wear with 20% of all profit given to @mindcharity

For owner Lucy, "it's incredibly important to use UK-based printers and designers. Supporting other local businesses and the carbon footprint."
