325 Acres of Welsh Woodland and Waterfall Trails from Top of the Woods
Our campsite sits next to a breathtaking 325-acre woodland, home to the River Dulas and the enchanting Fynonne Waterfall. The woodland includes plantation forest, ancient woodlands, and temperate rainforest—one of the UK’s rarest natural habitats. With public footpaths and bridleways, this area is ideal for outdoor exploration.
A woodland pathway runs through the campsite, and we’ve created a Secret Waterfall Trail for our guests. This trail guides you through the forest to the magical Fynonne Waterfall and loops back to the campsite.
All you need is a sense of adventure, a map from reception, water, picnic treats, and your group—including your four-legged friends!
Most of our guests find the trail to be a highlight of their stay at Top of the Woods, and it’s well worth dedicating a day to this unforgettable experience.
The Dutch Barn
The Dutch Barn is a spacious, covered picnic area where you can eat, relax, take shelter from sunshine or rain, play games, and hang out with other guests. It’s equipped with a shared fridge and microwave for camping guests and a freezer to freeze your ice bricks.

The facilities onsite are wonderful and clean and the Dutch Barn covered in fairy lights lit up looked so cosy and welcoming - we will definitely be coming to stay again! Lewis S.

Each glamping accommodation have their own recycle station and across the site we have a number of customised recycle stations to separate and recycle your rubbish.
Courtyard Communal Firepit
We love campfires at Top of the Woods and in 2016 we built our communal firepit & woodland garden, using recycled stone on site from an old collapsed pig sty and an old discarded tractor wheel!
Campfires are laid on most weekend evenings, for our guests to get together and make new friends. Or come and listen to our storytellers campfire stories during the school holidays, popular with adults and kids alike!

New Guest Woodland and Wild Spaces at Top of the Woods
Our newly planted woodland on site at Top of the Woods is a collaborative effort between us and our guests, with a tree planted for each booking made or through the Top of the Woods tree sponsorship program. Over 3,500 native Welsh trees have been planted, creating a thriving new habitat for wildlife.
Take a stroll and see how many native tree species you can identify, along with spotting the local wildlife that calls our woodland home.
In 2023, we launched our Wild Space program, which includes planting a forest garden designed to benefit wildlife and our guests. In 2024, we began creating the Wild Spaces trail, which will be an evolving feature for guests to enjoy over the coming years.
The Practicalities....Wifi, Electricity, charge points
Shared Camping Fridge, Freezer & Microwave
In the Dutch Barn, camping and campervan guests have access to a shared fridge for basic cold food storage, a freezer to freeze ice blocks for their cool boxes, and a microwave for everyone to use. While the fridge is perfect for storing essentials, campers should still bring their main cool boxes for the bulk of their food storage.
For glamping guests, ready-frozen cool bricks are available at reception for added convenience.
Free WiFi
There is limited bandwidth to share between all our guests, so please be considerate and don’t expect to stream YouTube! The best signal is in reception and the courtyard but take the opportunity to switch off and enjoy your time off with family and friends!
Electricity and lighting around the site
Site lighting uses either low wattage LED or solar lights to keep light pollution low for wildlife (we have 7 of the 14 UK protected species of bats at Top of the Woods) and to for our guest to enjoy the spectacular night skies.
We have mobile device charging points in Soo's Shed. Devices are left at owner's risk.
